C36500 Leaded Muntz is copper, alloyed with zinc, tin and lead.  Muntz metal has strength and corrosion resistance similar to C46400 Naval Brass but the higher lead content results in better machinability.  C365 Muntz metal found historical prominence in the shipbuilding industry, primarily as a hull liner.  C36500 Leaded Munts was adopted by the pressure vessel industry and is still, for many manufactures, the preferred alloy for tubesheets and condenser/cooler plates.  Because of its warm reddish gold hue and corrosion resistance, 365 Muntz also has numerous decorative and architectural applications.

UNS C37000 (CW607N) Free-Cutting Muntz Metal

C37000 Muntz Metal is a brass formulated for primary forming into wrought products. Cited properties are appropriate for the as-fabricated (no temper or treatment) condition. CW607N is the EN numeric designation for this material. C37000 is the UNS number. Additionally, the EN chemical designation is CuZn38Pb1. The British Standard (BS) designation is CZ129. And the common industry name is 60-39-1. Older literature may refer to this material as ASTM Alloy 6, but this is now discouraged.

 It has a moderately low tensile strength among the wrought brasses in the database.

By substituting tin for an equal quantity of zinc, a high corrosion resistance to seawater is achieved. The addition of tin also gives the alloy an inherent resistance to dezincification, thereby further inhibiting the impingement by seawater at higher than normal temperatures. The alloy is also noted for its resistance to wear, fatigue, galling, and stress corrosion cracking.

C67600 manganese bronze is a versatile extruded and drawn alloy known for its high strength and good corrosion resistance. In addition, C676 has a fairly low melting temperature and a moderately low heat capacity.

 

 

A Copper Zinc Alloy containing Aluminum and small amount of Arsenic which is added as an inhibitor against dezincification. Inhibited Aluminum brass resists the action of high velocity salt and brackish water and is commonly used for condensor tubes. The outstanding characteristics of aluminum brass is the high resistance to impingement attack. Tubes of this alloy are recommended for use in marine and land power stations where cooling water velocities are high and where inhibited admiralty brass has failed from impingement.
